The HealthCard is a Visa Electron Debit Card, issued by Mercantile Bank Limited and can be used to purchase goods and services at any medical service provider who avails of a Point of Sale Terminal facility, i.e. (Credit Card Machine).


Fees

  • There’s an annual R 50 administration fee charged to the principal member’s account on the card issue date. A R 50 once off card fee is charged to secondary cards and replacement cards.
  • The standard transaction fee and VAT is only charged when the card is used, regardless of transaction amount. There is no additional fee when using a debit card at point of sale.
  • Market related bank rate interest is compounded annually and paid monthly on credit balances accumulated in the Healthcard account.
  • Compared to other standard savings accounts and credit cards, HealthCard is the most affordable method of saving funds specifically for medical related expenses when the need arises.
  • Annual card fee: R 50 (not applicable to secondary cards)
    Secondary / replacement card fee: R 50 (once off)
    Credit balance interest: Market-related, annual, compounded monthly
    Debit interest: Prime plus 6% per annum
    Point of Sale transaction fee: R4.50 per transaction
    Statements: R5 per statement - sent every second month
    False transaction disputes: R75
    Value Added Tax: 14% on all transactions per month
    Electronic funding: As per individual internet banking agreement
    ABSA deposit funding: R5.25 per deposit transaction
    Calls to Help Line: Normal phone call charge
    Minimum account balance: R10
    Debit Order return fee: R40 per unsuccessful debit order
